Cat Depot provides a safe haven for a wide variety of kittens and cats (200+ of all ages, sizes, breeds, and colors), until they are adopted into loving homes. We house and care for pregnant cats and motherless kittens; abandoned, abused, and neglected cats; stray cats and kittens; relinquished cats; and cats with special needs.

Before selecting a kitty, we ask that you keep in mind that a pet is a lifelong commitment. Cats that reside indoors or in an enclosed outdoor environment live 15–20 years on average, and they want and need to be part of your family that entire time.

Cats of all ages have different needs and adapt best to home environments that meet those needs. Click on the following links to learn more and narrow your search prior to adoption:

where to find the “purr-fect” cat

There are two ways to view & adopt Cat Depot kitties awaiting adoption:

1. Visit Petfinder online — Click on the “Petfinder” link at the top of each of our web pages to see our current selection of kitties! If you find one or more felines you are interested in, you can call (941-351-0824), email (info@catdepot.org), or just come into our shelter and see them in person.
2. In person — You are welcome to visit our sanctuary without appointment, between the hours of 11:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M., 6 days a week (closed Tuesday). Our staff will assist you with any questions you have and will help match you with cats meeting your individual needs. We are located at 5933 N. Washington Blvd. (Rt. 301), Sarasota, FL (south of University Parkway, on the west side of Rt. 301).

You can also see our kitties on TV — View our featured felines, live every Wednesday on the “Noon News on Channel 7” from 12:00 P.M. – 12:30 P.M. daily;
in Tampa, tune to Channel 8.

Cats available for adoption from Cat Depot:

• have been spayed or neutered
• have tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline HIV
• are up to date on vaccinations (except Rabies, administered by vet)
• have received a flea preventative
• have been micro-chipped

a final note about adoption

We at Cat Depot are very proud of all the abandoned cats that we have adopted into forever homes in the last several years (since 2004). Much of our success is due to the many kindhearted people who opened up their hearts and homes to our rescued kittens and cats. The numerous cards, letters and photos we have received has kept us updated as to the deep and caring relationships that develops between animal and owner after they leave our sanctuary. This feedback is greatly appreciated and confirms that what we, and you, do for these deserving felines is all worthwhile.
