If you’ve spent much time at Cat Depot, chances are you know Dan. Since 2015, he has given more than 3,450 hours of service, volunteering around three times a week and becoming a familiar face to our staff, cats, adopters, and visitors.
Dan’s Cat Depot story actually began in 2014, when he and his wife adopted their first Cat Depot cat, Tini. The following year, Ariel joined their family, and Dan began volunteering at Cat Depot.
More than a decade later, volunteering has become a meaningful part of Dan’s life, and his dedication has made him a familiar and valued part of the Cat Depot community.
Getting to Know the Cats
Over the years, Dan has volunteered in several areas, with much of his time dedicated to our Food Bank and Adoption teams. One of his favorite parts of volunteering is getting to know the cats in our care.
Dan takes the time to learn their personalities, quirks, and the little things that make each cat unique. That knowledge allows him to share those details with adopters and help them discover cats they may connect with.
For Dan, those relationships are what make volunteering so rewarding. He enjoys getting to know the cats as individuals and watching them find the people who are right for them.
His love for the cats also extends beyond his volunteer shifts. Dan regularly takes photos of the cats he gets to know, sharing their faces and personalities with the Cat Depot community.
More Than 3,450 Hours of Giving Back
After more than 10 years and 3,450+ volunteer hours, Dan has made a lasting impact on Cat Depot. He has helped at our Food Bank, supported our Adoption team, connected with countless cats, and welcomed members of our community through our doors.
But perhaps one of the best measures of Dan’s impact is the consistency he brings. Week after week, he continues to show up for the cats and the people who need them.
Dan’s story is a wonderful reminder that volunteering isn’t just about the hours you give. It’s about the relationships you build, the lives you touch, and finding a way to be part of something you care about.
We’re grateful to have Dan as part of the Cat Depot family and thankful for every hour he has spent helping cats and the people who love them.
