Merlin has mild cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which gives him an adorable little wobble and makes climbing and jumping a bit more challenging—but it never slows him down. Alongside his littermate and best friend, Arthur, Merlin is now thriving in the loving home every cat deserves.
Rescued as a tiny kitten after being found in a kind person’s backyard, Merlin’s journey is a reminder of what’s possible when a compassionate community comes together.
Cats Don't Rescue Themselves. Fortunately, Our Community Does.
This year, Cat Depot has already saved 300 more cats and kittens than we had at this time last year.
That’s 300 more lives rescued, like Merlin. Three hundred more cats receiving lifesaving medical care, safe shelter, nutritious food, and the chance to find loving homes.
But every day, more cats arrive needing urgent help. Many are sick, injured, orphaned, or require specialized veterinary care before they can begin their journey home.
As Sarasota’s only nonprofit dedicated exclusively to cats and kittens, Cat Depot is able to respond because of a community that believes every cat deserves a second chance.
Every time a frightened kitten receives lifesaving medical care, an injured cat recovers from emergency surgery, or a cat finds a loving home, it’s because compassionate people like you made it possible.
Together, we’re rescuing more than 1,300 cats and kittens each year, and every cat who comes through our doors receives individualized care. Every adopter receives personal guidance. Every family is treated with compassion and respect. Because we know that saving a cat changes more than one life.
