Kids and Cats Make Learning Fun

For the fifth year in a row, Cat Depot proudly brought learning to life through our signature “Adopt-A-Plushie” experience as part of Remake Learning Days, in partnership with The Patterson Foundation.

Across three engaging dates, April 18, April 25, and May 2, children stepped into a kid-sized “adoption center” where imagination met real-world lessons. Each participant selected their purrfect plush kitty, completed an adoption application, connected with adoption counselors, and visited the “pet supply shop” to gather everything their new companion would need.

More than just play, this hands-on experience helped young learners build empathy, responsibility, and compassion—core values that shape how we care for animals and each other.

We were especially honored to welcome special guests, including Remake Learning Days founder Gregg Behr; Beth Duda, Director of The Patterson Foundation; and Kelli Karen of The Patterson Foundation. Their presence made an already meaningful experience even more memorable.

In total, we welcomed 175 young learners and their families across all three events, each one leaving with a new furry friend and a deeper understanding of what it means to provide a loving home.

Thank you to The Patterson Foundation and Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading for another inspiring year of collaboration and community impact. We’re already looking forward to what next year will bring.
